Why visit Prague

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and a medieval treasure in the heart of Europe. It is best known for its history, architecture and occult culture. From literature to gastronomy, Prague continues to be an inspiration to all who visit.

We invite you to cross the Vltava across the historic Charles Bridge and climb up to Prague Castle: its complex is a city within the city. The panoramic views from the Metronome, the Clementinum or the Petrin Tower will allow you to enjoy the medieval beauty of Prague.

In addition, this Bohemian city is characterised by its curious and mysterious attractions. The exceptional Astronomical Clock, the Dancing House or the Powder Tower are some examples of Prague's unique personality.

We share with you 48 places to visit distributed in the following categories:

The City of a Hundred Towers. Like its ancient goldsmiths, Prague continues to produce jewels with each new cultural experience and its untouched bohemian legacy full of mysteries.

12 Museums, Galleries and Palaces

Prague Castle is located on Hradčany Hill and offers breathtaking panoramic views over the city. It is the third largest complex of its kind in the world and is known for its Gothic and Baroque architecture, as well as its history as the residence of the Bohemian kings.

Prague's unique position in the midst of influences from different empires throughout history means that there are museums of practically everything: pedagogy, magic and alchemy, Judaism, communism, instruments of torture, and the list goes on. We recommend a visit to the National Museum with its Lapidarium and the Mucha Museum.

13 Monuments and Landmarks

The Old Town Square and the Prague Astronomical Clock are two of the city's most iconic sights. The Old Town Square is one of the oldest squares in the city and is known for its beautiful Renaissance and Gothic buildings surrounding it. In the centre of the square is the famous Astronomical Clock, which is one of the oldest and most complex clocks in the world. This clock is known for its three-faced mechanism that displays the time, the calendar and the phases of the moon.

Another must-see landmark in Prague is the Charles Bridge, which is one of the oldest and most iconic bridges in Europe. This bridge is a perfect place for a stroll and to admire the views over the Vltava River and the city. In addition, on Charles Bridge you can also find a variety of street performers and souvenir sellers.

14 Churches and Temples

It took 600 years from the time Charles IV, the first Bohemian king to become Holy Roman Emperor, ordered the construction of Prague Cathedral on Hradčany Hill to its completion. There, in addition to its unique architecture, you can visit the relics of St. Vitus, the patron saint of dancers and entertainment.

Prague is known as the "City of a Hundred Towers" for a reason. From the twin towers of the Týn Church to the Strahov Monastery, you can find an interesting church on every corner. Prague's Jewish quarter has a unique cultural and religious heritage; in fact, the Old Synagogue is the oldest still functioning synagogue in Europe.

4 Squares and Parks

Letná Park is an impressive green area offering a spectacular panoramic view over the city of Prague. Known for its 360-degree viewpoint, this park is one of the best places to enjoy an afternoon outdoors.

On the same waterfront, the Royal Garden of Prague is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in the city. If you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of the centre, this is the perfect place: with its extensive paths and beautiful scenery, it is an oasis of peace and tranquillity.

5 Experiences and Activities

If you have some extra time left over after your tours, or if you prefer to get to know Prague in a more "hands-on" way, we recommend several activities. You can attend a performance of the unique black theatre, or perhaps a trip to nearby towns such as Kutná Hora or Terezin - it's up to you!
