Why visit Rome

Rome doesn't hide it from you: it is an imperial capital. Formerly of the Roman Empire, today of Italy. It is also home to the Vatican, the centre of world Catholicism.

Rome is an ideal city to explore on foot, because the distances are not so great and between stops you will discover something else. It is this combination of ancient and modern that makes Rome so special.

You will fall in love with its squares and avenues. We invite you to lose yourself on the Palatine Hill, and walk down to the banks of the Tiber. If you cross to the other side, Trastevere is not far behind in cultural offerings to continue enjoying.

We share with you 85 places to visit distributed in the following categories:

The Eternal City. In every street awaits a treasure of antiquity to surprise you. Rome enchants with its buildings, its gastronomy and the rhythm of its people.

19 Museums, Galleries and Palaces

Rome is an open-air museum. Thermae, markets, forums... every year a new archaeological area is set up with state-of-the-art experiences that bring these traces of the past back to life.

It also has an exceptional triangle of galleries: Borghese, Barberini and Doria Pamphilj. Venture a little further from the centre to discover more: you can go from the top of Castel Sant'Angelo to the depths of the Catacombs.

25 Monuments and Landmarks

On each of the Seven Hills there are jaw-dropping constructions. Ancient Roman buildings are the stars, but there are also fountains, obelisks and modern spaces that add new colours and shapes to the landscape.

26 Churches and Temples

It's no exaggeration: in Rome you'll find many of the world's finest churches. Big and small, we bet that whatever neighbourhood you're staying in, you'll find one that will steal your gaze.

Already with St. Peter's Basilica and the Pantheon you have two giants, but all the others speak volumes with their beauty and history.

10 Squares and Parks

In the centre of Rome you'll find its iconic squares, ideal for a break for a snack or gelato. Further out, Rome has several parks with magnificent viewpoints for panoramic views of the city.

4 Experiences and Activities

If you have some extra time left over after your tours, or if you prefer to get to know Rome in a more "hands-on" way, we recommend several activities. Roman mosaic workshops and authentic Italian pasta, experiences with gladiators or with the Pope, the choice is yours!
