Why should it be part of your tour?

To the south of Rome's historic centre, in the EUR district, the Garden of Waterfalls in the Parco Centrale del Lago offers a unique open-air walk. Little frequented by tourists, it is one of the Romans' favourite places of retreat and leisure.

The Laghetto, as it is known, is an artificial green space of 16 hectares that was originally conceived in the Fascist era in Italy and completed in 1960 for the Rome Olympic Games. This is why the Palacio del Deporte is so close by.

Within the Central Park is the Promenade of Japan, the work of the great architect and landscape designer of Rome, Raphael De Vico. Following the structure of a typical Italian giardino, the Garden of Waterfalls offers a spectacle of water jets, slopes, reliefs with natural stones and plants of various autochthonous and rare species.

After several years of renovations, it reopened to the public in 2017. Every evening, the decorative dancing water activity is lit up, which also serves to regenerate the water in the park's main pond.

If you enjoy exploring the parks of the cities you visit and want to see one of the most authentic parts of Rome, don't miss the Garden of Waterfalls. As long as the weather is good, you can enjoy a full afternoon strolling through the green circuit that combines nature and architecture.
